About Me

Hi, I’m Gerassimos—a passionate astrophotographer based in Athens, Greece. I’ve always been fascinated by space—cosmology, astronomy, and anything related to the universe has captured my imagination for as long as I can remember. Like many others in this field, my journey began with visual astronomy. In 2019, with little equipment knowledge but great curiosity, I bought my first telescope and turned it skyward. Seeing Saturn’s rings, Jupiter, and the Moon up close was an amazing and unforgettable experience—and the start of a lasting obsession with this wonderful hobby.

Though my academic background is in Psychology (BA and MSc), my interest in astronomy and cosmology has resurfaced in the past years. Astrophotography has become both a creative and scientific outlet, allowing me to explore the universe in a hands-on, deeply rewarding way.

While I still enjoy visual observing—especially under dark skies—I now focus mainly on imaging. Using dedicated astronomy cameras and processing software, I capture the faint light of distant objects. Most of my work is done from my apartment rooftop in light-polluted Athens, though I also shoot from Aegina Island (Bortle 4) whenever I can.

The primary goal of this site is simply to share some of the images I’ve taken—and to hopefully inspire a little wonder along the way! You can also find me on Instagram and Astrobin.
